At approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of 2700 West and 11400 South.
An SUV traveling northbound on 2700 West failed to stop for a red light at 11400 South and collided with a vehicle traveling westbound through the intersection. The SUV continued northbound after the initial collision, striking two utility poles and a power box.
The front passenger of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle. Both the passenger and the driver of the SUV were transported to a local hospital in serious condition. A 5-month-old child in the rear of the SUV sustained minor injuries but was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the other involved vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
The driver of the SUV is currently being investigated for driving under the influence. Speed is also believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The roadway is now open after a brief closure.
683 residents are currently without power. Rocky Mountain Power is on scene and estimated power would be restored around 1030 p.m.
