UPDATE: Driver Dies After Truck Crash into Oquirrh Lake
South Jordan, Utah — The driver involved in the April 17, 2025, crash at Oquirrh Lake has died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. when a truck traveling at a high rate of speed down Duckhorn Drive failed to stop at Kestrel Rise Road, hit a parked car, and flipped into the lake.
Several witnesses pulled the driver from the submerged truck and performed CPR until emergency crews arrived. The driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition and passed away yesterday afternoon. The name of the driver is not being released out of respect for the family.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, although it was determined speed was a factor. The collision caused damage to a parked vehicle, fire hydrant, road barriers, signage, and a light pole.
The City of South Jordan extends our heartfelt condolences to the family. We want to thank the community members who acted heroically that day.
