The weather is warming, and everything is growing greener, which means it’s May—the perfect time to get outside and enjoy all that South Jordan has to offer. I’m thrilled to share about some exciting new amenities that maintain our commitment to promoting health, wellness, and community.
This month, we officially open six brand-new pickleball courts at East Riverfront Park! As you’ve probably heard, pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation and these courts provide an incredible opportunity for residents of all ages to play in a beautiful setting along the Jordan River.
Over at Ivory Crossing Park, we recently completed a large new playground—and it’s already buzzing with energy and laughter. It’s been wonderful to see families enjoying this fantastic space together. Parks like this are fun, but they also help support the physical, mental, and emotional health of our community.
These projects tie directly into a significant milestone we reached last year: South Jordan was honored with the 2024 Healthy Utah Community designation. This recognition celebrates our City’s ongoing efforts to support physical activity, healthy food access, and mental well-being. From the SoJo Race Series and Winter Fitness Challenge to our Farmers Market and senior meal programs, we are committed to making South Jordan a place where everyone can thrive.
Along with this designation, we also launched the Healthy South Jordan coalition—a group focused on expanding health-focused initiatives citywide. If you live or work in South Jordan and are passionate about wellness, I invite you to join us!
Later this month, our two city splash pads will open—just in time to cool off and make memories as summer begins. South Jordan boasts some of the valley’s finest public and privately owned outdoor amenities, including more than 35 city parks, 9+ miles of trails, three fishing ponds, Mulligans, Glenmoor Golf Club, the Jordan River, Bingham Creek Regional Park, and 250+ acres of natural open space.
I encourage you to step outside and explore a new trail, meet a neighbor at the playground, or try your hand at pickleball. There’s so much to do right here in South Jordan.
