South Jordan Begins America250 Celebrations

Home Posted on January 14, 2026

In 2026, our nation will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a historical milestone being celebrated nationwide through the America250 initiative. South Jordan is proud to join the State of Utah, along with communities across the state and nation, in celebrating this once-in-a-generation moment.

Supported by the South Jordan City Council's resolution and Utah’s America250 initiative, our city will spend the year reflecting on the American story—its founding ideals, its ongoing pursuit of a more perfect union, and the people who make our community strong.

Throughout 2026, residents will see America250 themes woven into many of South Jordan’s signature programs. Planned activities include community tree plantings, themed art opportunities, and special Summerfest features such as a commemorative float and race. The City will also host a unique Constitution Day program and a meaningful 9/11 25th-anniversary exhibit. Youth-focused activities will include bringing back a “E Pluribus Unum” mural activity and introducing a one-of-its-kind SoJo-themed America250 coloring book.

We look forward to celebrating our shared history, strengthening community connections, and honoring the values that unite us. More details will be shared throughout the year—stay tuned!
