Tragic Fire and Explosion in South Jordan Claims Life of 15-Year-Old Bingham High School Student
South Jordan, Utah – November 7, 2024 – The City of South Jordan is heartbroken to confirm the tragic loss of a 15-year-old male student from Bingham High School following a 2-alarm fire and explosion at 10593 S. 3210 W. yesterday. At the family's request, his name will not be released at this time. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family, friends and neighbors affected by this devastating incident.
Emergency responders from the South Jordan Fire Department, along with additional crews, arrived shortly after the 3:00 p.m. call and worked to contain the flames and manage the extensive damage caused by the fire and explosion. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, and several sustained minor to moderate damage.
Following thorough search efforts, the body of the young resident was discovered inside the home last night. The cause and origin of the fire and explosion remain under investigation, and authorities caution that this process may take time as they work to gather accurate information.
We have been in contact with Jordan School District and they will provide counseling resources to families and students.
