Spring Spectacular
Welcome to the newly re-imagined Spring Spectacular!
Date: April 18th
Time: 10 am - 4 pm
NEW LOCATION: East River Front Park
What can we expect?
We’ve retired the traditional candy scramble and will instead hand out candy and/or small toys at each spring-themed activity at the event. We've reimagined the event as a “Spring Celebration” that aligns with Arbor Day and Earth Day, while keeping the elements families love:
- Baby animal petting zoo
- The Dunk Team
- Spring characters for photos
- Master Gardeners to consult on your spring planting
- Tree planting demonstrations by the City's Arborists
- Tree and plant raffle
- Plant cutting exchange
- A spring-themed maze painted on the grass, you can walk through
- Food Trucks through the Food Truck League
- Vendor Booths | Apply to be a vendor
- And more!
This new event will take place on Saturday, April 18th, from 10 am - 4 pm. We're thinking of this event as more of an "open house," where attendees can come and go as they like, and we should plan to spend around 90 minutes at the event, depending on how much they want to do and how long they spend at each station.
In addition to the activities listed above, we’ll be giving away 250 two-gallon saplings to residents. This effort supports our environmental goals and celebrates America’s 250th anniversary as part of the nationwide America250 initiative.
These updates reflect how we approach programming in South Jordan: thoughtful, responsive, and focused on long-term value. By using data and aligning programs with our strategic priorities, we can continue offering events that strengthen community pride, support the arts, promote sustainability, and create meaningful memories for families.
Thank you for participating, sharing feedback, and helping us shape the future of recreation and arts in South Jordan. We look forward to seeing you this spring and summer.
Why would we change this?
We regularly evaluate our recreation and arts programming to ensure it reflects what residents are actually attending, enjoying, and requesting.
Every change we make is guided by data. We look at participation numbers, feedback, costs, and how each program supports our City’s strategic priorities, building community connection, supporting the arts, promoting healthy lifestyles, and creating meaningful experiences for residents of all ages. When something works, we build on it. When something doesn’t hit the mark, we adjust.
With that adjustment in mind, our Spring Spectacular is evolving. While this event has been well attended in the past, we wanted to offer an event that
- Serves a wider age range
- Has more long-term value
- Has less of an environmental impact
