[ARCHIVED] Contruction Projects for 2023

snow covered construction site with tractors and crews working on the Heritage Park Splash Pad

This year will be an exciting one for finishing projects in the City. Below are a few project highlights and updates.

Heritage Park Splash Pad

The underground plumbing is complete, and about 50% of the splash pad concrete is complete. Crews are finishing the installation of the pavilions and other site structures now, and the project is scheduled to be completed this summer.

Bingham Creek Regional Park

This generational park, which will be the largest in Salt Lake County when complete, will include six multipurpose fields, a mountain bike skills course, a playground, and a disc golf course. Phase one of the park construction is almost complete. Once seeding is finished and the sod takes root, the park is expected to open this summer. Until then, park officials are asking people to stay out of the park.

Google Fiber

Construction permits for approximately half of the City, except the Daybreak development, have been issued. Fiber installation should be complete this fall. The first areas where the fiber was installed already have service.

Visit fiber.google.com to see if service is available in your neighborhood.

Grandville Avenue

Crews are working to connect Grandville Avenue from Lake Avenue to Old Bingham Highway. This project is expected to be completed this summer.

South Jordan Parkway from Mountain View Corridor to Bacchus Highway

The first phase of this project, which includes the section from Mountain View Corridor to Trocadero has been paved. Striping and signal modification at South Jordan Parkway and Mountain View Corridor need to be completed prior to opening the roadway. The remainder of South Jordan Parkway to Bacchus Highway is expected to open by the fall of 2023.

Dominion Energy Project

Dominion Energy will be replacing a natural gas feeder line down 1300 West from 7800 South to 11400 South. This project is necessary to keep pace with increased demand for natural gas due to customer growth along the Wasatch Front. Crews are scheduled to start in February 2023 and finish in late fall 2023. To expedite construction, multiple crews may be working simultaneously at various locations and may perform nighttime and weekend work. No interruption to residents’ natural gas service is anticipated during this project.
