[ARCHIVED] Did You Know You Can Rent a Dumpster From the City?

What is the Neighborhood Dumpster Program?

The Neighborhood Dumpster Program is a service designed exclusively for residential use. It provides access to a 15-yard waste dumpster at a nominal cost. For just $40 per day or $80 per weekend/holiday, residents can easily dispose of various types of waste without hassle.

Accepted & Unacceptable Items

While the program offers flexibility in waste disposal, there are certain guidelines regarding what can and cannot be placed in the dumpster.

Acceptable Items:

  • Water heaters
  • Workout equipment
  • Green waste (such as yard debris, small root balls, and limited amounts of sod)
  • Garbage
  • Household items (including appliances without Freon)
  • Small amounts of construction debris
  • Small equipment devoid of gas or oil
  • Drum containers cut in half
  • Mattresses/box springs

Unacceptable Items:

  • Rock materials (rocks, dirt, asphalt, and concrete)
  • Tires
  • Refrigerators
  • Air conditioners
  • Drum containers
  • E-Waste (batteries, TVs, computers, and other electronic devices)
  • Toxic, hazardous, or flammable materials (such as pesticides, herbicides, solvents, chemicals, paints, motor oil, and gasoline)
  • Large tree stumps or sizable root balls
  • Manure/human waste

Fees and Reservation

Residents must pay the rental fees in advance to access the dumpster service. Any additional violation fees incurred are added to the following month's utility bill, ensuring accountability and adherence to program guidelines.

Reserving a dumpster is simple and hassle-free. Interested residents can complete an online form on the South Jordan City Connect website, streamlining the process for convenience.

Resources and Assistance

South Jordan City offers phone support at 801-446-4357 (HELP) for those needing assistance during the reservation process or seeking further information.

With the Neighborhood Dumpster Program, South Jordan City aims to promote community cleanliness and responsible waste management. By providing a cost-effective and accessible solution, residents can contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more enjoyable living environment for all.
