SOUTH JORDAN, UT - January 3, 2025 —
Officer Involved Shooting
At 10:23 pm, the South Jordan Police Department responded to a vehicle theft in progress near
9400 South 4600 West, in South Jordan. Officers on scene made contact with a male inside a vehicle. The subject fired at officers and officers returned fire. The subject fled on foot and was later located in a nearby backyard. Officers from multiple agencies flooded the area. During the second interaction with the subject more shots were fired. The subject was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment, where he later died.
The Officer Involved Critical Incident team has arrived at the scene to investigate this incident.
The involved officers were placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. The area will remain closed as the investigation continues into the morning.
