Homicide Investigation
South Jordan, Utah — December 28, 2025
On the morning of December 28, 2025, members of the South Valley SWAT Team served a search warrant at a property in Duchesne County in connection with the shooting death of a 34-year-old Alexander Powell that occurred in South Jordan on December 27.
Following additional investigative leads, detectives made contact with the outstanding male suspect, who later surrendered without incident.
Two suspects, Kevin Scarbourough and Zachary Prescott have been taken into custody and booked on charges of homicide. At this time, there are no outstanding suspects. The investigation remains active.
We extend our gratitude to members of the community who provided information that assisted in this case.
