Park Art
Commissioned Murals at the Men’s & Women’s Restrooms (2026)
In the fall of 2025, the Bingham Creek Regional Park Authority (BCRPA) Board commissioned two murals to enhance the park’s user experience by adding color and vitality to the restroom facilities while also helping deter vandalism by transforming the spaces into meaningful works of art. Following a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) process, local artist Elisa Gomez was selected to design and paint the commissioned murals located on the restroom facilities next to the pavilion on the south side of the park—the only restroom facilities currently on site. The Board approved funding for the murals from its lease revenue funds. The murals were completed and opened to the public in March 2026. Each mural was thoughtfully designed to reflect both the setting and the people who use the park.
Women's Restroom Mural
The women’s restroom mural features bright floral imagery intended to create an uplifting and unexpected “wow” moment for visitors, paired with a positive affirmation to inspire those who enter: “May Your Heart Bloom Bright.”
Men's Restroom Mural
The men’s restroom mural draws on the spirit of the park and the surrounding community, incorporating imagery connected to the region’s landscape, recreation, and local identity. It includes an affirmation encouraging visitors to embrace adventure: “The Park Is Calling — Find Your Adventure.”
Together, these murals celebrate creativity, community pride, and the natural beauty that makes Bingham Creek Regional Park a special place for all who visit.
About the Artist: Elisa Gomez
Elisa Gomez (b. 1986) is a multidisciplinary painter based in Salt Lake City, Utah, recognized for landscape-inspired artwork viewed through the lens of abstract expressionism. Growing up along the scenic Wasatch Front provided a lasting source of inspiration, and nature continues to play a central role in her work.
After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Utah in 2010, Gomez developed a deep connection to abstraction, using color, texture, and layered forms to convey personal narrative and emotional landscapes. Her artistic journey has included traveling across the country while living and painting from a van, allowing her to explore new environments and experiment with techniques while working outdoors.
Gomez later expanded her work beyond traditional canvas into large-scale mural painting, creating public artworks that vary in size and style. Following the completion of a master’s degree in arts advocacy in 2020, she has focused on community engagement through public art and collaborative projects.
Her professional experience includes artist residencies with organizations such as the Denver Art Museum and Breckenridge Creative Arts, as well as participation in community cultural events including the Día de Muertos Festival in Breckenridge and the Living Traditions Festival in Salt Lake City. Through these opportunities, she continues to connect with diverse audiences and share her work in meaningful public spaces.
Future Mural Art
The Bingham Creek Regional Park Authority plans to collaborate with the South Jordan Arts Council and additional artist partners on a future mural installation at the 4800 West tunnel adjacent to the northeast corner of Bingham Creek Regional Park. More information about this project will be shared as it develops.
