Licensing & Other Fees
Requirements for Licensing
- Your dog must have current rabies immunization records. The rabies tag number, which is on the rabies immunization certificate, is needed to apply for a dog license. Those must be emailed to Animal Services.
- Cats are exempt from licensing fees.
- Please note that South Jordan residents may only have 2 cats and 2 dogs.
- Read the relevant ordinances.
Licensing & Other Fees effective July 1, 2024
- Dog License
- Dog License (altered) $10 annually
- Dog License (unaltered) $35 annually
- Dog License, Senior Citizen (Dog must be altered) $5 annually
*Seniors (65+) must present their identification in person.
- Cats are exempt from licensing fees
- Impound Fees
- Domestic animals, $32 plus $8 per day
- Second impound, $50 plus $8 per day
- Third impound and above, $100 plus $8 per day
- Livestock impound, $60 plus $12 per day
- Microchip Service $20
- Adoption $25 domestic (Sealed Bid for Livestock, or Public Auction)
- Euthanasia Fee $40
- Disposal $25
