Licensing & Other Fees

Requirements for Licensing

Your dog must have current rabies immunization records. The rabies tag number, which is on the rabies immunization certificate, is needed to apply for a dog license. Those must be emailed to Animal Services.
Cats are exempt from licensing fees.
Please note that South Jordan residents may only have 2 cats and 2 dogs.

Dog License
- Dog License (altered) $10 annually
- Dog License (unaltered) $35 annually
- Dog License, Senior Citizen (Dog must be altered) $5 annually
  *Seniors (65+) must present their identification in person.
Cats are exempt from licensing fees
Impound Fees
- Domestic animals, $32 plus $8 per day
- Second impound, $50 plus $8 per day
- Third impound and above, $100 plus $8 per day
- Livestock impound, $60 plus $12 per day
Microchip Service $20
Adoption $25 domestic (Sealed Bid for Livestock, or Public Auction)
Euthanasia Fee $40
Disposal $25

How to Add an Account in the Customer Portal (PDF) - If you have an online utility billing account, you can use that account to make the payment.

Dog License One-Time Payment Instructions (PDF) - If you do not wish to have your animal licensing payments on the same account as your utility billing, you can simply make a one-time payment.
